MARCH IS OFFICIALLY IRISH HERITAGE MONTH.
In honor of this, and all the cultures that make up this beautiful country. Treo and IRISH NETWORK NEW ORLEANS, will be hosting an art show called
ART AND THE IMMIGRANT.
American art forms, like music, literature and the visual arts have been immeasurably enriched by the contributions of artists from every land coming to the United States. These artists add their unique ideas and styles to the artistic American tapestry.
People have always moved around the world. Early humans were nomads, traveling in search of food, shelter, and safety.
Today people move for many different reasons—economic, political, cultural, religious, and environmental.
Sometimes, migration and displacement are forced, as in the case of a natural disaster that destroys homes.
Other times, people migrate voluntarily, perhaps searching for better job opportunities.
As people travel around the world, they bring their traditions, knowledge, and beliefs with them, often mixing their cultures with those of their new homes.
For many artists, their migrations and those of their ancestors are important in shaping both their personal identities and the art they produce
This cross-fertilization and immigrant imagination, coming from every direction of the globe is on display at Treo this month.
THE SHOW WILL RUN MARCH 1ST – MARCH 26TH
WITH AN OPENING RECEPTION PARTY ON FRI MARCH 10TH
